From painting a nose or two red while we sing "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," to taking a whole evening to decorate Chuckwagon for Christmas with all the Staff and Campers, from a whole morning of baking Christmas cookies to caroling to some people who have/are supporting Camp in amazing ways! Christmas at Gator Camp is truly the most wonderful time of the year!<br />

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Happy Thanksgiving from Gator Camp!!</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><o:p></o:p></span> </div>
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I am thankful for the How, How, How of Camp.
A few years ago, the word hard and the word good didn’t belong in the same
sentence, let alone have the same meaning. God has brought me on a long journey
that hasn’t been easy but brought me here to camp.</span><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I am thankful for the struggle. Because if
everything was easy I wouldn’t appreciate it and it would have no value to me.
The struggle is a blessing because without it I wouldn’t me humbled and rely on
God.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I am thankful for the challenge. The
challenge drive me to keep going and never give up. The challenge is what make
life feel like an adventure, the challenge is what keeps life from being
mundane and stale.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I am thankful for the accomplishment
because without it life would be overwhelming. The accomplishment make the
other two worth doing again and again. Without the accomplishment I would never
be able to develop the healthy pride that is kept in check by humility the
struggle brings.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>In closing, I am thankful for the balance
and the cycle of the How, How, How. The challenge, struggle, and
accomplishment. The humility, adventure, and pride. I am thankful for Gator
Camp and the community here, that helps me live life and be fulfilled daily
experiencing the How, the How, and the How.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>Starting off this article, I am thankful for many things, so many I
don’t know even where to start but the first thing that I am eternally grateful
for is that I have a God in Heaven that no matter what I do will always love me
& forgive me of my sins. Another thing I am greatful for is my parents
loving me and giving me a great life even when I don’t deserve it. I am also
thankful for all the Chiefs that put their all into me especially Chief Devon
& Chief Justin, them two were my first Chiefs when I came to Camp. I was
coming to a new place & I had no idea what to expect, but Chief Devon &
Chief Justin made it feel like camp was my second home. Chief Justin, I am
definitely thankful for the 8 ½ months that he chiefed me, there was not a dull
moment. He definitely poured his all into me & did his best to show the
love of God to me. Chief Tony, Chief Jimmy, Chief Kevin, I appreciate you, it
was probably the hardest thing to come to the Bucc group because of Chief
Justin. But it was definitely the best decision and I’m thankful for you
coming. Chief Andrew, I’m thankful for you hopping into the group &
bringing a great attitude & spirit into the group. Another Chief I am
thankful for is Chief Curtis, no matter how many problems I had with him, he still
loved & cared about me. Without Chief Curtis I would probably not be the
person I am today. I am thankful for that cold night on Jan. 16, 2019 that I
accepted my Lord Savior into my heart. I am especially thankful for my family
because even when it was hard they still loved me. That’s some of the people
& things I am thankful for.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

Every summer Miss Tami comes down from Pennsylvania for a whole week to teach the boys everything they need to know about making pottery. These pottery classes encourage and promote creativity and working with their hands. This year the boys learned how to make castles, Christmas trees, and so much more! What a fun week!</div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Camporee is an annual camp event that takes everyone to northern Florida for a few days. This August we spent three days at Lafayette Blue Sate Park. As a whole, camp staff relaxed, explored a different part of Florida, and ate some really good food. We also spend one day sharing our yummy food with all the state park staff and rangers that keep Florida's state parks so beautiful. It is our small way to say thank you for all the work they do so our boys can enjoy camping on their group trips throughout the year.</span> </div>

<span style="font-family: inherit;">Lunch Deliver<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">
We were walking and talking as we climb, we were walking
and talking as we deliver. Ok off that topic. This morning we got up but I
don’t take down tents because it’s CAMP-O-REE! Camp-O-Ree is a 3-day event at
Lafayette Blue Springs State Park. Before we came to Blue Springs we paddled
from Owens Spring to Manatee Springs. But anyways we ate breakfast at 8:30.
After a really good breakfast we got in the green van to ride to Peacock
Slough. We walked a half of a mile to deliver lunch to Mr. Fred and Ms. Ann. We
also sang Seminole Wind. After we made some Godly, nice friends we had a 10
minute siesta. We arrived at Adams Tract where we waked ¾ mile to deliver lunch
to the owners of Adam’s Tract. Before we knew it we arrived it was quiet, too
quiet. So we looked around and nobody was around. Next we went to use the
bathroom and get a drink. After that we walked to the van carrying the food
with us. We finished the rest of siesta. After the rest of siesta we arrived at
Lafayette Blue Springs. We went to Chief Greg’s smoker to give back the food.
After we gave back the food we wrote articles. We went swimming for a little
bit. After we went swimming for a little bit we had a super delicious supper.
After that we walked to campsite to have pow-wow before bed. Hoya!</span><br />

<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">
Today is the second day of our all 4 group called the Camporee.
We woke up from an amazing sleep and went to an 8:00 breakfast. Our breakfast
consisted of egg casserole, potatoes, biscuits, gravy, and orange juice. After
our breakfast we used privy, brushed our teeth and used privy again. We then gathered
our lunch stuff together and hit the road to the park rangers. We first went to
the Lafayette Blue Springs ranger station. We offered them….listen to this,
bacon on a stick, pork chops, ribs, and grapenut ice cream homemade ice cream
right then and there with cookies. Once all the stuff was handed out to them we
sang to them. We then headed over to Troy Spring State Park. We sang for them
and gave them food too. We transitioned from there into eating tons of ice cream
and I guessed the original grandpa for Big Alligator so I could get an extra
scoop. After we ate we went swimming in the spring and I immediately found the
tunnel and went straight through cause you just got to send it. Once that was
finished we left and got into the bus and went back to Lafayette Blue Springs
to see our big camp family. Bye. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

pretty fast. We packed our stuff in our first campsite. Then we ate breakfast
at the pavilion and then took our stuff down to the river and packed up our
canoes and hit the river at 8:40ish. After a fun 7 miles we reached Charles

<span style="font-size: small;">After a great shower, we swam in the spring and went under tunnels. There were
three springs, a small, medium, and large. The small was like 6.5 feet, the
medium was about 7 feet, and the large was like 4 feet. Then we went out to the
Suwannee and jumped off a big rock like 5 feet over the water. We also went to
the rope swing that was 15 feet high for the campers but 25 – 30 feet high for
the Chiefs.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>And Chief Jon and Chief Eric
came after siesta and lunch. We had honey cookies, Cheez-its, and pretzels.
Then we got back on the river around 1:30 and canoed for about 2 and ½ hours
and arrived at Lafayette Blue Springs. Then we set up campsite and wrote our
articles. Then we are going to swim in the spring. And also eat amazing food
from Chief Greg.</span></span></span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">We had our annual Mother's Day Luncheon, a special day that our boys get to honor the moms in their lives. It's a fun day with flowers, cheesecake, and sometimes, a few tears.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif;">Our boys spend the day on their best behavior and loved on all their Mamas, Aunts, and Grandmas. It is always a special day, especially for our moms who get to see their boys show off a bit by singing and playing instruments. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Calibri;"><div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
As Jesus did thousands of years ago, we rose this
morning. Of course, none of us are dead so we couldn’t rise from death but we
got out of our beds at 5:20 on a cold morning so to us it was about as difficult.
Something I realized about Easter is that people only rejoice Jesus’s victory
when it starts to come around that time of the year. Parents say that their
children need to behave because the Easter bunny will find out. Children behave
extra well so they get extra goodies. Parents do it too. They act good in the
church, do good deeds, and proclaim their good doings. I’ll admit, I do it all
the time, every year, around the same time. What we need to realize is that the
resurrection of Jesus Christ is something we must celebrate every day, with
every prayer. Jesus Christ is risen, risen indeed. This we must celebrate with
every living breath we had. We know this in our hearts but we don’t do it. The
real question is, why?</div>

Next we ate breakfast and got the Easter service started at 6:30.We talked about how Jesus was crucified and how he chose to do that for us and about how he rose back from the dead. After the service we all played a few games of bush tag. Then we started our adventurous Easter hunt. We bush wacked through the forest of the back 90 as we followed the clues. Finally, we ended up at the pavilion and won the race! Then we ate brunch. Today was a great day. But, not only was today fun, but I also learned a lot about Easter such as how Jesus died on the cross for our sins. </span></div>

go to the Lake. We found it at the rope swing. Then we saw Chief Matt and Chief

<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: Calibri;">Today was Easter! Today Jesus arose from the grave after
three <span style="font-family: Calibri;">days of being dead. It is also a great day around camp. We play games,
have good meals, a sunrise service and a great time with all of camp. The day
is all about how God sent his only son to die on the cross for our sins. If you
have not asked Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, you need to. His hands are
always open for you. Romans 10:9-10: “That if you confess with your mouth <span style="font-family: Calibri;">“Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised
Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you
believe and are justified and it is with your mouth that you confess and are
saved”. If you don’t know where to start that verse should be the first. Always
remember this day as the day for our savior, God! Have a good Easter!</span></span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: "calibri";">It is our first day on the Suwannee River! We woke up at
4:00, quick did our morning chores, and then left camp at 5:00. It was a 6-hour
drive from Florida to Georgia. It was tiring but we made it. When we started
out in Fargo, the first creature of the trip was a baby crawfish! It was cute.
A few hours later, we stopped for lunch and saw a CRAZY inch worm. It was super
gnarly. After that, we continued to paddle and then saw a 4-5 foot alligator.
Then we found a really nice campsite, in which it had pine trees on it. It’s a
little muddy in the shore but other than that, it’s pretty nice. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

We got up to a very chilly morning before we ate a really
yummy breakfast with some warm hot chocolate to go with it. Next we got on the
river and sang some good high spirited songs. After that we had a fun game of
splashing each other with our paddles and I soaked Chief Matt. After that we
got to our campsite and set it up. Chief Matt made awesome stairs with sand on a hill in our campsite. Next
we swam and went to pow-wow and bed. Hoya! </span></div>

After we ate breakfast, we loaded out canoes, then started our daily routine.
After we paddled 5 or 6 miles till we got to the worst smelling spring I’ve

This season in Florida brings the opposite effect as it does for Northerners. As the cold weather hits up North things start to slow down and projects are left until the Spring. As the beautiful weather calls many people to Florida, Gator Camp gets busier and busier. This winter we were blessed with so many wonderful work groups and individuals who came to serve and work on various projects around camp. With the whirlwind of meeting new people, starting and finishing various projects and working day in and day out, it sometimes feels exhausting and overwhelming. It is always worth it though, to introduce new people to camp and see their excitement to get involved with what we are doing here. God is great at sending the right people to camp and blessing us in so many unexpected ways. <br />
<br />
The boys kept busy this session as well with camping trips to the Everglades, canoe trips to the Peace River and different projects around camp like sugar cane cooking, tent building, and learning to make beef jerky. Two of our groups also had the opportunity to learn how to carve from a group of gentlemen in Arcadia who gave us their Mondays to come to camp. <br />
<br />
Thank you for all the continued ways you love Gator Camp. Our boys and staff are so blessed to have your prayers and support.<br />

is going on with Miss Annie. But despite it all, God’s love endures forever and
I know he is in control. I am thankful for Jesus that he came and died for us
so that we may have life more abundantly. I am thankful for the way Chief Josh,
Chief Matt and Miss Annie charge into everyday with faith and hope. I am
thankful for this staff team that is my family and for how much they love and
care for each other. I am thankful for each and everyone one of you boys, that
you made the choice to come to camp, that you were able to recognize that you
were in need to some kind of help and are now working on learning successful
tools for living. I am thankful for Turkey in the Hole and the great spirited
day it is and that so many people locally are catching the spirit of camp. I am
thankful that Casey was able to be an auctioneer yesterday. Lastly, for now, I
am thankful for my favorite chapel of all the year (this one) and being in this

</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Families Day is an important day at Camp that happens once a year. It's a fun day where parents, siblings, grandparents, and even aunts and uncles can come to camp and see what life is like for their camper. When families arrive we have a program with of course, lots of singing, followed by tours and a big family meal. The boys work hard to make sure their campsite looks good and they give the tours and explain what a day looks like for them. It gives families a chance to connect even more with their sons as they get to experience what their sons are learning at camp. It also gives them ideas for how they can incorporate the structure of camp at home. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /><u>The Best Family I’ve Ever Had<br /></u>Good morning everyone. My name is Weiss. I am a camper from the Miccs, the middle-aged group from Gator Camp. I am going to tell you why my family is the best family I ever had. First, my mom is the first one of the best members of my family because she is nice, loving, caring, and is a really good cook. Second, my dad is also one of the best members of my family because he helps me when things are hard for me and he is also kind and caring and he takes me fishing. My sisters are the last ones of the best members of my family because they are kind, loving and caring. That is why I have the best family I ever had. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /><u>A Families Love</u><br /><br /> A family’s love is great beyond measure.<br /><br /> Higher than the clouds, deeper than the ground.<br /><br /> A families love is tougher than steel, lighter than air.<br /><br /> A family’s love is cared for, although it might be tested.<br /><br /> Tested through young ones, who take it for granted.<br /><br />Young ones who don’t know the great power of love.<br /><br />A family’s love can’t be faked, for it isn’t meant to be faked but cared for, forever.<br /><br /> A family’s love is meant to last, growing bigger and bigger with each member, growing with each mistake being resolved.<br /><br /> A family’s love is full of compassion, with a mother and a father a brother and a sister, <br /><br /> a grandpa and a grandma, <br /><br />full of deep love from deep in the heart, bound to the heavens.<br /><br />Take care of a families love. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /><br /><u>What I Like About My Family</u><br /><br />Something I like about my family is they care about me. I like that my dad loves me and brought me to camp. Even though I don’t always get along with my step-mom I always appreciate all that she does and how she cares for me. I appreciate how my family sticks into my problems and helps me solve them.</div>

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Gator Camp held its annual fishing tournament recently. The boys at camp love fishing and as many of you experienced fisherman know, it takes a bit of strategy to catch a fish. You need the right equipment, knowledge, a significant amount of patience, but maybe most important, passion. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In Matthew, we read when Jesus called his disciples and how called them to be fishers of men. He called us to that too when he told us to go make disciples. We are called to action. Avid fishermen don't just wait around for the fish to find them, they find the fish and bring them in. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
It is important we don't lose sight of who we are really called to find - the hurting, the outcast, and the lost and share the beautiful news of our Savior.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Thank you for the prayers and continued support as we serve here at Camp with these boys.</div>

Every summer at Camp the boys get a special week where they learn to use their hands and create all kinds of things out of clay. Miss Tami comes down from Pennsylvania and teaches the boys everything they need to know. This year they learned how to make mugs, Christmas trees, cheese plates, and more! There were even birdhouses made! They all worked very hard to finish their projects and these pictures offer a few sneak peeks at what will be at the Turkey in the Hole auction this November!</div>

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Fourth of July is an exciting day at Gator Camp every year! This is the only day of the year the camp water slide is open for business. The groups have great camp spirit and our freedom is celebrated by eating good food, singing songs, and lots of fun in the water! </span></div>

a flying squirrel, flying Miccosukee, and a Micc flip. After we got done with
our first time around, me, MJ, and Chief Matt decided to flip Miss Melissa out
of <span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">her kayak. She had such good spirit that she got up and went off the water
slide too. She probably shot out the farthest. Casey decided to try a flying
squirrel but it ended in a belly flop and you could almost feel the pain when
you heard him hit! In my attempt to have good spirit I put on three necklaces:
red, white, and blue, and I put on an </span></em><span style="font-family: "calibri";"><em><span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">America hat and glasses. Me

after we eat Chief Greg and Chief Ross’s 5-star food, (which still can’t beat
the cooks food) we will go to the Detwiler’s to see fireworks and eat supper.
After we are done there we will set up to go down trail, to do ph, pow-wow, and
go to bed at a good time so we can be setting up for tomorrow.</span></em> <o:p></o:p></span></span></span></span></div>

<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">It is trip season again for the boys! When Florida starts
to warm up, the groups tend to move north to escape the heat for a few weeks.
The Cowboy group planned a 24 day trip to the South Carolina Foothills and Lake Jocasse! Life on the
trail is a bit different from at camp, but the same principles and goals still
apply. It is great to see them enjoying their time and seeing all their
planning pay off. </span></div>

Mr. Gresham’s and we got back on the road. We are going to go hike the
Chattooga River for 13 days. When we were hiking, we went on some bridges on
the way. We also saw a tree snake on the way to campsite. We ate lunch and took
siesta. After siesta, we had one more mile to hike. When we got to campsite, we
set up our tents and got some firewood and now we are writing articles. We are also going to go fishing and swimming in the
Chattooga River. We are going to eat supper that Chief Jimmy made.</span></span></span></span><span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> </span></span></span></span></span><br />

articles, and ate supper. For supper we ate mac & sausage and pineapple
tidbits. Then we brushed our teeth and played a game called look down, look up!
Then we did pow-wow and bed! Hoya!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">
Today we had a great day! We woke up at 7:00! We took
down our tents and did devotions, which were about following the bible the
WHOLE way and not halfway! Then we ate breakfast. We enjoyed oatmeal,
Nutri-grain bars, and chewy granola bars! Then we hiked for one mile and we
reached highway 28! There was a parking lot on the South Carolina side! Mr.
Chris and his kids brought us chicken nugget biscuits at our restock place!
Thank you Mr. Chris! Then, after one more mile, Chief Jud was 4 feet away from
an EASTERN RATTLE SNAKE! Chief Ross killed it! We cut off its head and rattle.
We chucked the head and body. But we kept the rattle just in case a bear comes!
Proven fact, bears are scared of rattlesnakes! Then we ate lunch! For lunch, we
enjoyed cheese crackers, jerky, and Nutty bars! Then we took a 22-minute siesta
because there was a thunderstorm coming! Chief Jimmy and I took off leaving the
group in the dust! We needed to set up the walrus tarp! We had a great day!<o:p></o:p><br />

The Fishy Day<o:p></o:p></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">We woke up and took down our tents. Then we ate a
breakfast of grits, pineapples, and Slim Jims. Last evening we
caught a brook trout and a rainbow trout and we ate them. We also saw a crawdad
and let it pinch our fingers. Jimmy let it pinch his ears and Stephen let it
pinch his armpit. Back to today, we hiked up to the Walhalla Fish Hatchery
towards Ellicott Rock. It was a 2 miles hike. When we got there, we saw
rainbow, brook, and brown trout. We saw big fish up to 26 inches! We also saw
trout minnows and learned the life circle of trout. Then we ate a lunch of Slim
Jims, pineapples, and ate N & J rolls and we took siesta at the pavilion.
Then we went fishing and me and Chief Jud caught a little rainbow trout.
We also found a fish head and some line. At supper yesterday, we saw an ant
fighting a beetle. When we saw the crawdad, Shawn saw it first and thought it
was a scorpion. Back to today, we got back to campsite and wrote articles. Then
we will swim, eat super, swim more, and settle down and go to pow-wow and bed.
Hoya!<o:p></o:p></span><br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
At our annual Mothers Day Luncheon this year there were lots of hugs and kisses, singing and poems written by the boys for their mothers and grandmothers!</div>
<strong></strong><br />
<strong>Loving Hand</strong> <br />
She is a superhero that saves the day. <br />
She is the voice when you’re led astray.<br />
She is the hand that leads the way.<br />
She is true to the heart<br />
with you she shares a bond that shall <br />
never be spread apart. <br />
She is loving and kind.<br />
She has the purest of minds.<br />
In the thorns, she is a rose<br />
On the trampled path, she grows.<br />
Your feelings, she knows.<br />
To her children she shares her special love<br />
To the husband, she is a dove<br />
She is not one to pick and choose<br />
She builds me up when I lose<br />
When there is strife<br />
She applies her life and<br />
Gives words of wisdom.<br />
She is kind.<br />
In her truth you will find.<br />
She is great there is no debate<br />
As sure as there is grains of sand<br />
In her, you will find a loving hand. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<strong>Things I Appreciate About my Mom</strong><br />
Something I appreciate about my mom is that she cooks really good food for me. I also really like the way that she helps me with my homework sometimes. I appreciate how she takes me and my brothers to do fun stuff. Thank you mom for all you have done for me.<br />
Happy Mother’s Day mom!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<strong>Poem for Mother’s Day</strong><br />
Mother’s are lovers.<br />
They don’t bother others.<br />
They love to see each other.<br />
They take care of one another.<br />
My mother is dear to me,<br />
As you can see.<br />
She loves to help people in need.<br />
And I know that she loves me.<br />
Sometimes she wonders what to do.<br />
And then she’ll get blue.<br />
But I know she will always pull through.<br />
We all know everything they say is true.<br />
Mothers take care of us.<br />
Even when we like to fuss.<br />
But saying thank-you is a must.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<strong>Mother’s Day Article</strong><br />
Something I appreciate about my mom is that she’s always there for me and wants the best out of me. She always wants me to succeed in life. My mom has always stuck into my problems even when their hard.<br />
A mom is a woman who can take anyone’s place but no one can take hers. A mom is the one person that you can go to when you need to talk out.<br />
Something I want to make my mom proud of is graduating camp and high school and making her life easier.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<strong>What I Love About my Mom</strong><br />
I love my mom so much. She takes care of me and works really hard at home and at work. She helps sticks into my problems even if I treat her wrong sometimes. She is very graceful and gives me good warm hugs. She loves music and her dream was always to be a violist. I want to treat her better by not taking my problems out on her.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
<strong>Best Mom Ever</strong><br />
What do I like about my mom? That my mom takes care of me and she is kind and loving. She sticks into my problems the whole way. She helps me solve them even though I am hard to live around. I love her because she cooks my favorite food. She is fun to be around, even when I’m struggling. I like her when she helps me have a good day. That’s why I love my mom.<br />
Happy Mother’s Day mom!</div>

It is also a time where the boys ask more questions and are doing more searching as to why this weekend is so special. Each year we have a Good Friday service with the boys. Each group made a cross and displayed it at the service. This year each group used a different kind of wood for their cross. A perfect example of three very different groups coming together to be united in the death and resurrection of Jesus.<br />
<br />
The boys talked about the crucifixion and one by one campers and staff wrote down sins in their lives. We nailed those sins to the cross. But thankfully, we know they don't stay there, because our Lord didn't stay dead. <br />
<br />
On Sunday morning the boys are up bright and early and we have a sunrise service full of yummy pastries, good singing and the gospel message. At the sunrise service we burned the papers that were on the cross. They are gone now. When Jesus died and rose again three days later, he took our sins and he erased them. The boys heard that we serve a living God and he defeated death once and for all. He defeated death for them, for us, and for you. <br />
<br />
The boys then get to participate in a camp wide scavenger hunt.<br />
<br />
Brunch was served at the Pavilion to a very hungry crowd after all that running around camp. <br />
<br />
Please pray with us that we can guide these young men to the cross and continue to help them as questions come up. <div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "calibri";"><span style="font-family: "calibri";">The boys had the opportunity this past month to learn how
to make sugar cane syrup! </span></span></div>
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">
<span style="font-family: "calibri";">This new camp addition includes a sugar cane press and a
boiling furnace, which were built by various work groups that have helped at
camp this season. It has been in the planning stages for a while and we are so
excited to have it up and going.<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 8pt;">
<span style="font-family: "calibri";">The boys harvested the sugar cane and learned how to press
it to get the juice from the cane. This requires the sugar cane press and our
camp horses, Carmel and Sandy. After all the cane was pressed we had 120 gallons of juice! After the cane is all pressed and the juice is strained, it is boiled for several hours and all the impurities are skimmed off the top. It is cooled and poured in jars.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 8pt;">
<span style="font-family: "calibri";">What you have left is pure
delicious cane syrup.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "calibri";"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: "calibri";">Here are a couple articles written by some campers about what they learned about sugar cane.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="MsoNoSpacing" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;">

<em>
<span style="font-family: "calibri";">Sugar Cane<o:p></o:p></span></em><br />
<em>
<span style="font-family: "calibri";">Well camp has been busy, but my favorite part was the
sugar cane. It was a cool process. Step one was to cut the sugar cane. Step two
you crush the cane with two large cylinders while a horse walks in a circle.
Next, you cook it in a big metal bowl. You also have to skim the green stuff
off the sugar cane. Then you scoop the cane into a cheesecloth so it can filter
it. Well then you jar it, you let it cool, then you eat it. That was my favorite
part of this week. <o:p></o:p></span></em><br />
<em>
<span style="font-family: "calibri";">P.S. Sugar cane syrup is good on pancakes.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></span></em><br />

<em>
</em><span style="font-family: "calibri";"><em>Today after lunch, we went to the sugar cane cooker.
While we were there, we watched sugar cane syrup get cooked. Then it was done. We got to
put the lids on. Then we had to put them in a bin. I got the job of laying out
the jars for Chief Curtis to grab, just to be helpful. It was a good time. We
even got to try some of the syrup. It was good syrup. It was fun.</em> </span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">On Friday, the Cowboy and Miccosukee groups had the privilege, to attend the British Car Club's Annual event for Gator Wilderness Camp. This annual event gives our boys the chance to look over an array of finely restored British cars and then choose the winner of the group. The boys are also given trophies for designing cars of their own. It is a great day for the boys to practice listening and learning to ask the "right" type of questions about this certain subject (cars). </span></div>

We feel truly blessed that Irma slowed down to a category 2 by the time it went over camp. Thank to all of you who prayed fervently and without cease! The following is a video made by Chief Devin, showing the destruction that Irma sought at camp. Thank you again for your support and the prayers that we know our Father heard from His children!</span><div>

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The constitution of America starts with the preamble. "We the people in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our prosperity to ordain and establish the constitution for the United States of America." But the the 4th of July is Independence Day. The 4th is more than fireworks and backyard bbqs. The 4th is the day where America stood up for themselves and basically told Britain to let us be free. So we did by writing the Declaration of Independence. Now we are a free nation from 1776 to 2017. 241 years of freedom!</span><br />

No, you haven't because it wouldn't make any sense. Romans 12:2 says, "Do not conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is, His good, pleasing and perfect will." We cannot understand God's will and serve Him if we conform to the ways of the world even with only one foot, half of our mind, half of our time, or half of our actions. In order to serve God, we need to stop only going half way and give our entire selves to his good, pleasing and perfect will.</span><br />

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">We are sorry for the delay in recent e-updates; however, from here on out our e-updates will be posted on this blog, along with pictures, videos and ways that you can pray for camp. Thank you again for your support of Gator Wilderness Camp and the many ways you continue to bless the boys and families that we serve in Southwest Florida.</span></div>

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: "times";"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><i>I have been working as a family worker for just over a year now and I find it an honor to be a part of such a positive program as wonderful as the program Gator Wilderness Camp provides. I was made aware of Gator Wilderness many years ago. At that time, I thought I had an idea of what type of young men attended the camp. I am ashamed to say I thought it was made up of predominately punks or thugs that just needed a good ole fashion whooping. I am here to tell you I was terribly wrong. Now that I have been given a chance to interact with both the young men and their families, I have a completely new perspective. I see now what Gator Camp is faced with on a daily basis. Part of my job is being the first to take the calls from the desperate family members begging for help with their child. Many of the children’s parents have given up on them due to their own problems. Their schools have given up on them as well as society as a whole. Sometimes the call comes from not the parents not the grandparents but the GREAT Grandparents who have taken on the responsibility of a 10 year old boy because there was no one else to step up. The calls from adoptive parents that find out too late about the abuse, both sexual and physical, that the child had endured from being passed around from place to place before finding someone to give them a permanent home. Some of the young men have had parents who were so strung out on drugs they could not even tend to their basic needs for food not alone affection for days. I know that this comes across pretty heavy, but I felt it was important to make you aware of who we are serving at Gator camp and why. We have a saying at camp” It’s not your fault, but it is your problem.” Our team of Chiefs help these innocent children learn to trust people again and help them gain a better perspective on life through love, much patience and understanding. They teach them that they can rise above their circumstances no matter how dark they may seem. At Gator camp, we help the boys find their voice.</i></span></span></div>
